Duel #4 - Scarlett Johansson vs Tom Waits
Tom Waits vs Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett is a good actress, but she looks pretty good as well. So there was much scepticism when she released here first album, a collection of covers from Tom Waits. mission accomplished here with the participation of David Bowie and producer Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio)

On the other side of the ring there should be no need to introduce one of the last giants of alcohoolic jazz, Mr Tom Waits. I just falled in Love with his first album some years ago and never grew tired of it.

Duel #3 - Shirley Bassey vs Astrud Gilberto
Ultramagnetique Duel 3
Without doubt the best known Doors single, "Light my Fire" was released with their first eponymous album in 1967.

This hit was covered numerous times by a wide variety of artists, including Stevie Wonder, the disgusting Will Young, Erma Franklin and Ananda Shankar.

The battle today, ladies and gentlemen, is between two of the greatest. On my left Ms Goldfinger: the great Shirley Bassey. On my right, sipping a caipirinha beside the ring, we have the Queen of Bossa Nova, Astrud Gilberto!

Duel #2 - Aretha Franklin vs Nina Simone
Ultramagnetique Duel 2

What more beautiful combat than this duel between the two greatest Soul Sisters of all times?

The choice is between the cover of "My Way", undoubtedly the most famous French song outside of France, orginially composed by Claude Francois and Jacques Revaux.

Friends of Ultramagnetique, the choice is in your hands!

Duel #1 - GaltMcDermot vs Brian Auger
Ultramagnetique Duel 1

To my left, Gault McDermot, composer of the famous musical "Hair", immortalized on screen by Milos Forman in 1979. This work caused some scandal at the time, with its less than favorable references to the Vietnam war and also the fact that the actors ended up nude on stage.

To my right, the remake by Brian Auger, Hammond organ specialist and great "popularizer" of jazz, in the most noble sense of the word, during the 1960s. A rich career, which culminated in his collaborations with the great singer Julie Driscoll (who sings on this track).

The total constitutes our first battle of the versions!
Friends of Ultramagnetique - the decision is yours!
